If you were searching for a warm addition to your summer playlists, look no further than Coldabank's new single, "Lovin' You," a sun-kissed number that should be a necessary component to any future pool parties or BBQs this scorching season.
"Lovin' You" hears the budding London producer concoct an irresistible dance beat with a stellar bass line and horn section. It's a soak-soaked number that lifts from '90s R&B and hears the tale of endless love. Not to mention, the former sound engineer also dropped an eye-popping lyric video that will have any emoji enthusiast overwhelmed with joy.
iHeartRadio recently spoke to the producer via e-mail about the making of his new single as well as his itinerary for the summer season. Take a look below!
"Lovin' You" is almost tailor-made for the summertime sunshine. Did you specifically want to wait until the beginning of summer to release the track?
"In a word, yes! The track came about in the winter, but even then, it clearly had that sun-soaked feeling, so a summer release felt like a no-brainer!"
How did the record come about?
"I started it with the main keyboard riff, the one from the intro, and straight away I knew it was special. Then, a couple of my producer friends literally just came in from the studio next door, heard it and started jamming some melodies over the top. Within moments, the whole room was whistling the hook, singing 'Lovin' You,' and grinning with excitement.
It was a vibe that just happened to be honest, there was no sitting around thinking 'Let's try and make a summer banger.' It was really natural. Later, some vital finishing touches were added by my buddies Jacob [Manson, one half of dance-duo, Blonde] and Mark [Crown, trumpeter for Rudimental] and there we have it."
For readers that aren’t familiar with you, what is something you'd like to share with them?
"I often get asked where the name Coldabank comes from... My dad grew up in Yorkshire in a house called Calder Bank and I always liked the sound of it when he would tell childhood stories. In the words of Joe at my label, 'It's just like Skyfall!' Also, before making my own tracks, I was a studio engineer and got to work closely with many UK artists, including Labrinth and Tinie Tempah."
What's on your summer itinerary?
"I have a show in Ibiza coming up soon, which is really exciting! Hopefully, it's the first of many as I love that place. Also, I'm doing some poolside DJ sets at Shoreditch House, which is one of my favorite London hangouts on a sunny day. Other than that, I'll be squeezing in the odd barbecue around working on more new music."
